Extending brain health for older adults

The average lifespan of the brain is about 70 years, while the average human lifespan is about 80 years for men and 84 years for women. In short, our bodies tend to last longer than our brains.
So if we want to live with quality at every stage of life, we need to extend our brain’s lifespan so it doesn’t decline before the body does.
Since my mom was approaching 70, this change has been clearly noticeable—both in decision-making, emotions, and daily living.
So we decided to help extend my mom’s brain health by taking her to exercise, and we also arranged a trainer for her.
Exercise not only helps extend brain health, but also supports the body’s blood circulation, strengthens the immune system, helps control blood sugar and blood fat levels, improves joint movement, and most importantly, helps improve mood and reduce stress. This is because when you exercise for at least 20 minutes, the body releases endorphins, which are beneficial for relieving pain, stress, and anxiety.
Most importantly, helping older adults have a daily goal (such as exercising) can also reduce symptoms of dementia and depression.
Try setting aside time to take your mom and dad to exercise.
Cheering on all dutiful children.
